Fatemiyoun BrigadeThe Fatemiyoun Brigade is a brigade (or division) sized militia unit formed in 2014 to fight in Syria on the side of the Syrian government. It is said to be a proxy arm of Iran's Quds Force, the overseas arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). This unit is primarily comprised of Afghan 'volunteers' who entered the unit while living as refugees or workers in Iran. The Afghans are Shia Muslims and many of them are Hazara. Most of the Afghans join for economic reasons although many are motivated by religious reasons. Liwa Fatemiyoun - Wikipedia
