The 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) was formed up in the fall of 2017. There were a couple of false starts when it came to the heraldry of the unit. A few versions of the beret were 'unofficially' introduced as well as a few versions of patches and tabs for the unit. Eventually, on February 8, 2018 the 'official' beret, tab, and unit patch were introduced. [1]

The blue patch and tab below was one of the earlier ones introduced. This was taken from several U.S. Army press releases in the fall of 2017.
