Sangorian

In 2016 the National Directorate of Security (NDS) set up a secretive unit in Helmand province with the aim of instigating divisions within the Taliban organization. The goal was to use Taliban tactics and appearance so it could mix in with the population and Taliban forces. It operates in districts where the government has little to no control or influence.

Origins of Name. The group is named after a Turkish television soap opera about undercover operatives.
